Biography
Charles Marion Russell (1864-1926) is one of the greatest artists of the American West. Russell painted more than 2,000 paintings depicting cowboys, Indians, and late 19th-century Wild West landscapes. Art has always been a part of Russell's life. As a child, he made sketches and tried to reproduce animals on paper. He showed a great interest in the Wild West and could spend hours reading the tales of explorers and trappers who passed through Missouri.
