Biography
Born in 1931, Will McBride was an American artist. Primarily a photojournalist and art photographer, he also produced illustrations, paintings and sculptures.
Initially trained as a painter under Norman Rockwell, McBride graduated from Syracuse University in 1953, having studied drawing and painting. After serving in Germany as part of the US army, McBride remained in Berlin, documenting post-war youth culture. His works were the subject of widespread censorship due to his explicit depictions of nudity.
McBride died in 2015. The Will McBride archive in Germany houses the majority of his work.
