Presentation

Georges R. Quinio (1927-1999) was a French artist who lived and worked between Bastia, Corsica and Paris, France. He was an old pupil from École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Following extensive world travel and his residence in Singapore, he always painted and decided to spend most of his life in Corsica, his native country. All his life, he gave free rein to his imagination portraying and interpreting the beauty of his homeland in a kaleidoscope of color. The influence of impressionism and occasionally pointillism is evident. With a marked preference for the palette knife, he also worked with brush, chalk and watercolor. Through his paintings, the artist portrays the admiration and enjoyment he experienced surrounded by the beauty of Corsica and of Fontainebleau where he spent the last years of his life. The elegant simplicity of his work communicates, in a profusion of light and color, both a joie de vivre and profound serenity.
