Education

Attended th Academy of Fine Arts in Palermo, but then abandoned his studies to
devote himself to painting in solitude in his studio

Born in Brindisi in 1961, Bartocci began painting as a teenager on sheets of paper and even the walls of his house despite the fact that his mother did not enjoy it. He began attending his grandfather's studio, who was a sculptor and draftsman. The painter Bartocci lived for a very long time in Bari, in Puglia, where he left his memories and his heart. Since he was a child Bartocci has dedicated his great passion to painting, admiring the great exponents of abstract art and abstract expressionism. After a few years, he began to know and admire Burri's works–he was enchanted by them. He slowly began to research himself artistically and discovered his interests in the following components: color, matter and applications. His works make use of acrylic paints, oils, and emadri dyes, as well as earthy materials and paper. He combines pigments with stucco and glue. Bartocci prefers, in addition to the simple layer of dense color, to scratch canvases, to finish them with pencils and pens. The artist's paintings are born without a draft or preparatory sketch, always letting himself be inspired by the emotions of the moment. Bartocci continuously studies his completed works, and is often critical of himself. In 2002 he received the award given to “Ninni Cassara" from the Sicilian regione. In 2003 he donated one of his works to the museum initolato to Francesco Carbone.

He is collaborating the Tobian Art Gallery since 2021. His work is in private collections all around the world.
