Presentation

Philippe Deligne was born in Calais – France in 1971.

In his deep conceptual reflection, Philippe Deligne organizes his work based on a visual knowledge that can give life to a reading of art against the grain. Closer to the concept of sculpture than that of painting, his works present elements common to both. By playing on a bifocal vision, that is to say by affixing the intellectual characteristics of the other to one and vice versa, he manages to complete the message that art has always carried within it: material existence and spiritual existence.

Investigation and curiosity are characteristics that are common to him: in the delicate vinyl works, evocative works halfway between painting and sculpture, the overlapping drops of hot glue develop landscapes elevated to the limits of the unconscious . The different longitudinal planes that are created, lunar monochromes or multicolored visions of another reality, become the symbol of the different dimensions of existence to which we must all submit without knowing it.

Through these artifices, synthetic and direct compositions of matter, Deligne transmits a minimalist and profound vision of the universe, a global image of what we are, a guide to the basic molecular principle of our essence.

His intense output translates into an equally substantial series of exhibitions, often managed as an absolute protagonist. From 1999, Deligne has held individual and group exhibitions all over the world: Tokyo, Prague, Vienna, Grasse, Barcelona, Oslo, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Carrara, Pietrasanta, Milan, Turin, La Spezia and Pescara.

This curriculum is in fact the sign of a still lively international ferment which is developing between Europe, Asia, North and South America. His works are held in public and private collections. Public collections include: Municipal Government, Senas (France); Oppéde (France); Municipal Palace of Calcinaia (PI); Apuan Alps Regional Natural Park, Seravezza (LU); Association of Sculptors, Turin. Lives and works in Pietrasanta (LU).

By playing on a bifocal vision, that is to say by affixing the intellectual characteristics of the other to one and vice versa, he manages to complete the message that art has always carried within it: material existence and spiritual existence.

The marble or bronze sculpture, therefore, a wisely crafted three-dimensional work, hides its own secret from the light. A perfect form which, if struck by an external source chosen by the artist, generates in its shadow the essential narrative complement, the most intimate essence of the material laid bare by attentive and thoughtful reflection.
