Presentation
Deena Hamilton, born September 21, 1965 in Marlow, United Kingdom, embodies the essence of a cosmopolitan artist. Immersed in the cultures of Paris and London with a stint in Barcelona during her childhood, she studied at the Beaux-Arts in Paris under the tutelage of Vladimir Veličković and Toni Grand, whose influence is reflected in her work. His preferred mediums, such as wood, resin, lime and ink, form a diverse artistic palette. Having encountered the influences of Eva Hesse and Cy Twombly, she took up residence in the south of France in 2010, seeking a change after the loss of her parents and the departure of her children. Her creative routine, punctuated by morning introspection outside her studio door, reveals an artist immersed in a thoughtful creative process, oscillating between periods of abundance and research. Deena Hamilton thus embodies an artist inhabited by her work, uniting the multiple facets of her existence through her sensitive artistic expression, sometimes rigorous and always carefully composed.
