Presentation

There are paintings that invite us to travel, to contemplation, to escape, even meditation. The works of Etienne Boiteux are definitely part of it...

Each of his paintings, on the border between abstraction and figuration, takes us into raw landscapes, where each one will place his horizon line, between earth, sky, or sea, among the horizontals, and will create his own journey there. The horizontality of these lines, strokes, or layers, playing on the contrast of both hue and light, leaves everyone the choice of their emotional destination.

And, potentially, the lighting of the work will create, thanks to Etienne's craftsmanship and technique, as many landscapes as there are hours of the day. The works have indeed this naturalness, and this minerality, not only thanks to what they evoke for you, but also to the technique, to the materials that Etienne uses.

Because, in addition to paint, resin and plaster, he creates his works using sand, gravel, crystals, eggshells, which he borrows from nature itself to reproduce it, but without "thinking" it, because he composes on instinct, in the moment, in emotion.

In constant search for new mixtures, his works have the touch of the mineral, its relief, but also its brilliance.

These mixtures make his works strictly speaking alive according to the light that illuminates them, and sometimes makes them sparkle, like so many windows opening onto these landscapes conducive to escape. From the smallest format (40x40cm) to the largest.

As for the color palette, if gray, black and earth tones are often the majority, Etienne likes to make some of his paintings more flamboyant with more lively touches of color such as red, blue or ochre, but above all. He plays with the shades of white creating a light and a depth to his canvases which sublimate them.

Its small formats allow you to have a diptych, triptych or more composition, according to your choice, or perhaps you will prefer its large formats for total immersion? Feel free as much as his works invite you to do so, as they incite you to serenity.
