Marion Jdanoff, self-taught artist, claims to be part of a collective adventure and does not believe in individual genius. She looks a lot at other autodidacts, anonymous, non-institutional, rock paintings, copyist monks, folk art, Hokusai, Matisse ...
In 2012, she left for Berlin and formed there with Damien Tran the duo “Palefroi”. Why created this entity? By working together, they had to get out of their comfort zones, to try things they would never have tried This becomes a field of experimentation and what they test together will then feed their individual practices.
Together they have developed a taste for spontaneous gesture, the rough, the wrong done, the energy of the line. They prefer it to be rough but alive.
COVID goes through there and back to France for the duo: Damien in the Massif Central and Marion in the Alps.
She then resumes alone the practice of these drawings which speaks of everyday, personal things, without any heroism.
