Fotografía Pop Art
En los años 50, en el Reino Unido, los artistas observan las evoluciones de la sociedad americana con el desarrollo del capitalismo y del consumo de masas. Expresan los sentimientos de una generación y aprehenden los cambios sociales gracias al arte. Iniciada por Richard Hamilton y Eduardo Paolozzi, la tendencia llegará a los Estados Unidos a finales de los años 50 y provocará el surgimiento de una nueva generación de artistas: Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg y Jasper Johns inmortalizan los símbolos de este consumo de masas.
Este movimiento recibe el nombre de “Pop Art" por Popular Art. El Pop Art utiliza imágenes de los íconos de la Cultura Pop, las celebridades, los actores, los modelos o incluso los músicos. Los materiales utilizados no son necesariamente prestigiosos, ya que los artistas se desprenden poco a poco de los materiales nobles para crear más fácilmente y producir una mayor cantidad de obras, ya se trate depinturas Pop Art de dibujos o de serigrafías. De hecho, es por eso por lo que se privilegia la serigrafía, porque permite editar las obras en varios ejemplares. Los artistas del Pop Art hacen que las obras pierdan su unicidad, el arte se vuelve más accesible.
El Pop Art llegará entonces a Japón en los años 80 y se manifestará a través de las obras del grupo de artistas Kakai Kiki, cuyo líder es a Takashi Murakami, quien critica a la sociedad de manera provocativa fusionando los elementos de la cultura japonesa.
Considerada anteriormente como un soporte de investigación, es con el Surrealismo y el Pop Art que la fotografía asciende al rango de práctica artística. Los artistas la utilizan para apropiarse de las imágenes de iconos y para relatar los hechos sociales.
Todas estas fotografías nos llegan como muestra de un movimiento artístico, pero también muestran la actitud de los artistas de la época: un movimiento de pensamiento donde el arte utiliza y distorsiona los contenidos publicitarios, televisivos y mediáticos.
