Presentación
Baptiste Laurent (1980, Nantes) es un artista visual residente en España desde 2007. Ha expuesto en diversas instituciones artísticas y culturales como el Palais de Tokyo, el Museo Nacional de Antropología de Madrid, el Instituto Francés de Madrid, Esquina Nua, Espacio Seara, la Alianza Francesa de Madrid, la Galería Gazzambo y la Galería FL.
Desarrolló su práctica artística de forma autodidacta, paralelamente a sus estudios de ciencias políticas e historia del arte. Ha sido director artístico y gestor de proyectos culturales en numerosas instituciones culturales y artísticas (Palais de Tokyo, La Maison Rouge, Bienal de Venecia, Gallería Continua, etc.
Su medio tradicional es la pintura, pero también trabaja la escultura y desarrolla proyectos con un fuerte componente literario, social y antropológico. En sus últimas publicaciones y exposiciones "Mauvaises Tournures", "Bajo el mismo mar" y "Exit", experimentó con el trabajo creativo en colaboración con otros artistas visuales pero también con autores literarios.
Es un artista antiacadémico, ecléctico, que gusta del sincretismo de los estilos pictóricos, y que oscila entre la narración neofigurativa, la pintura gráfica, el arte urbano y la abstracción expresionista.
Fundador del estudio compartido "Latolier", ubicado en el distrito de Usera de Madrid, anima una comunidad dinámica de artistas visuales españoles e internacionales.
