Jean-Louis Pipet is a painter, sculptor and musician. He was born in Corrèze in 1953. He studied at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Limoges.
Jean-Louis Pipet creates works with wood, ceramics, paintings. He projects us at the heart of his figurative works, that have a certain rhythm and are chaotic at the same time. His large luminous paintings deal with the drolly theater of existence. At the heart of a minimal, closed univers, structured by strong architectural lines, his compositions, saturated by chromatic harmonies, invite us to a vertigo of senses. Between ascetism and block humor, his work imposes on us a deafening silence that makes us reflect upon our intimate questionings.
The setting is present through horizontal and vertical lines, in a closed universe. Human action, unavoidably tied to animality, is represented by bitter-sweet, tender and acid fables, in disconcerting colors. Jean-Louis Pipet's large-format canvases are saturated by dissonant, sometimes acid harmonies.
Jean-Louis Pipet captures its subjects at the peak of their actions. This image freeze highlights the diformed and disproportionate bodies that explode in his works, hit by projectiles, like an allegory of time passing and its destructive effect.
