Hugo Isaac

Hugo Isaac is a Franco-Swiss artist. A self-taught painter, he embraced art as a means of rebirth after an eye-opening burnout in 2021. A professional makeup artist for over 10 years, with a degree in photography as well as a certificate in art therapy, Hugo draws its inspiration in a multitude of sources. He explores the vibrant world of color with boundless passion. For him, painting is much more than a simple visual expression; it is an intuitive and spontaneous language where colors intertwine to tell stories that sometimes even escape rational understanding. He adopts a non-conformist approach, refusing to name his works to avoid any formatting for the spectators. In painting, Hugo turns to the abstract. Graffiti, tags, urban art, nature, calm, music, diversity, the versatility of each person and everything that challenges conventional norms inspire him. He particularly likes the use of acrylic, inks, pastels and spray paint, loving to explore texture in his works. Soulage, David Lachapelle, Erwin Olaf, Gregory Crewdson, Basquiat, Rodkho and Pat MC Grath contribute to nourishing his imagination and to enrich his artistic universe. His creative process is fluid and organic, often beginning with a single color which evolves according to his intuition, without preconceived plan or defined final destination. With a growing desire for exploration, Hugo aspires to work on even larger formats, giving free rein to his boundless imagination. With four exhibitions in Geneva between February 2023 and October 2023, Hugo shares with the public his captivating, inspiring universe wonder and reflection. His future plan to open a gallery dedicated to local emerging artists and artistic development workshops demonstrates his deep desire to contribute to the artistic community and make art accessible to all. At the heart of his work lies a message of hope, self-acceptance and liberation. Hugo aspires to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness, unleash their buried creativity, celebrate their individuality, and dance with their fears into the order of life's chaos.
