Vincent bousserez was born in 1973. He lives and works in Paris.
Sensitive to the works of his godfather, the painter Michel Bousserez, Vincent was attracted at an early age to drawing and painting. Through studies both formal and informal, he worked to capture, in composition and light, a "decisive moment".
It has been attributed to proust the idea that travel consists in seeking not new landscapes but new eyes. A passion for travel has allowed vincent to find his own way of seeing. At the age of 23, he lived and worked in morocco, sketching in ink and watercolor scenes from daily life that would be exhibited in 1996, his first show. That trip was also his first experience with photography, and the world seemed different through the lens of an Exakta Vectra with a 50mm lens. Later and extensive travels in Asia, South America and Europe would allow him time to develop a relationship with the camera that would transform his work as an artist.
Vincent’s found time to create for himself in the hours left outside of his work as a graphic designer in the world of advertising, to which he matriculated after business school. His ability to find and create images that convey meaning led him to work as an artistic director at internationally recognized advertising firms.
Represented by different galleries in europe since 2008, he has become known internationally for his series plastic life, photographs of a miniature world in which characters reflect back to us in manipulated scale the minute absurdities and the small beauties of our larger life. His series plastic beauty, created in 2011, asks questions about the quest for idealized notions of beauty, and about the unrealistic ‘perfections’ of beauty to which humans aspire. This series features portraits of barbies whose prints are in diasec pierced with bullets from assault rifles, attacked with acid, or burned by a torch… Then, his photographic works become unique works.
In 2012-2013, the series the new deadly sins is launched. Vincent Bousserez creates new scenes with his famous little characters: his scenarios can be read as the denunciation of the defects of our time. In 2014, it is the world of finance that vincent wears his reflection through his new photographic series Plastic Money, about to be officially launched.
