Joaquin Ferrer, born July 4, 1929 in Manzanillo, is a Cuban painter and designer linked to the lyrical abstration movement. 1929 - Born in Manzanillo, Cuba, July 4, 1929. He completed his primary and secondary education in Manzanillo and Santiago de Cuba. 1948 - Employed at the Railway Company, simultaneously takes flight lessons, fascinated by aviation. 1952 - Havana School of Fine Arts. 1954 - Exhibits his works for the first time at the National Painting Salon, Museum of Modern Art in Havana, then participates in group exhibitions in Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil and the USA. 1955 - Personal exhibition, La Rampa gallery, Havana, Cuba. 1956 - Personal exhibition, Lyceum gallery, Havana, Cuba. 1957 - Personal exhibition, Color Luz gallery, Havana, Cuba. 1958 - Museum of Modern Art, Havana, Cuba. 1960 - After a stay in Italy to study mosaics, arrives in Paris thanks to a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Education. 1970 - Employee of the Le point cardinal gallery and first solo exhibitions in France. He befriends great artists of the time including Max Ernst. 1979 - Becomes a French citizen.
