Gino Guidi

Presentation

Gino Guidi, as we can appreciate from his works, shows that he has an extraordinary pictorial technique founded, above all, on a solid structure determined by the application of colour. It is precisely through this frame that the artist manages to reach heights of extremely high precision in the details in an exquisitely realistic interpretation of the subjects.  The pictorial layout is proof of the high technical quality of Gino Guidi's paintings.  His touch is soft, made of light glazes through which he manages to perfectly blend the objects in the space in an atmosphere of great tonal coherence.  The light is then called upon to further unify the pictorial surface, giving life to a skilful direction used by the artist in distributing the shadows. Gino Guidi's palette is also consistent with his aesthetics with the adoption of a chromatism of great realism and naturalistic rendering.Gino Guidi was a painter from Livorno, born in 1914 and passed away in 2000.

Born into a family of artists, Gino felt a vocation to painting from an early age. A highly classical painter, he dedicated himself above all to the landscape genre, drawing inspiration from the current of the Macchiaioli.

The first exhibitions date back to the 1960s, and since then various important events have followed one another: the one-man shows in 1970 at the "Stefanini" art gallery and in 1974 at the "Romiti" art gallery; participation in various editions of the Rotonda Prize (Livorno); various editions of the Livorno Naval Academy Exhibitions (1st Prize, Silver and Gold Cup); group exhibitions at the "Il Bottegone" art gallery in Sesto San Giovanni (MI); participation in the 6th "Piazzetta" Prize in Sesto San Giovanni (MI); collective exhibition at Villa Casati (Merate) linked to the theme "Merate and Brianza"; participation in the group show "Spring 1970" Rome selection, Cultural Activities, "Artinfo" organization; participation by invitation to the 1st Brunellesco Prize, Florence 1970; European Biennial "Dubrovnik 1970".
