Presentation

Wakaru is part of the new generation of Japanese illustrators and artists, considered by experts to be one of the boldest and most international of recent years. She represents a type of figuration with a naive aesthetic, yet powerful in the color manipulation and costumbrismo of her scenes.

Her pictorial style is based on simple lines and "smiling faces", according to the artist herself. A creative positivism that has led her to publish several books and become one of Japan's most sought-after illustrators for brands and magazines.

But behind this relaxed realism, there's also a message that values everyday life, social encounters and personal harmony - values intrinsic to Japanese culture, which should also be universal.

In recent years, she has broken the barrier of contemporary art, exhibiting in galleries such as Akrilyc and The Waluso Gallery in London (UK) and Tokyo Pixel in Japan.
