Presentation

Mohamed Dembélé is a Malian visual artist who lives and works in Bamako. Passionate about drawing since a young age, he graduated from the Balla Fasséke Kouyaté Conservatory of Multimedia Arts and Crafts.

An active member of the collective of young Malian visual artists Tim'Arts, his work earned him the 2nd prize at the Rencontre Internationales de Peinture de Ouagadougou (RIPO) in 2021. His artistic approach is characterized by the decomposition of the subject through a multitude of vibrant lines in varied colors, suggesting continuous movement on the canvas and referring to the post-impressionist movement.

His figurative paintings, immersed in the twists and turns of daily life in Malian society, tell us about the current social and economic realities that many young people experience. Illegal immigration and street trading are his favorite themes.

It depicts isolated silhouettes walking the streets, made invisible in a Malian capital in full transformation, as vast as it is perilous, to pay tribute to the determination of these street merchants and to draw society's attention to the harshness of their conditions. . The profusion of lines of color prevails over the gloom of these ordinary lives subjected to a difficult daily life which crush dreams and aspirations for a better future.
