Presentation
Mary Gaspar is an abstract watercolor and acrylic painter from Chicago, Illinois. She painted at the Evanston Art Center throughout her youth and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois. Her abstract “Plant Cell" pieces derived from a “post baby fog" and the need to create work that portrays connection. She has been featured in Architectural Digest, Domino Magazine, Property Brothers and her work is collected internationally.
Mary paints in her home studio in Wilmette, Illinois where she lives with her husband, three young daughters and border collie. When she's not painting, you can find her in her garden.
"I find the composition first and then the painting reveals herself to me through layers of water, color and texture, in a composed symphony," Mary says. "In creating a painting I am pursuing the duality in things, light and dark, calm and chaos, the perfect connection with imperfect lines, the raw strangeness and familiar bonds."
