Biography

Lilian Rigobert, known as LIROY, is a self-taught artist with multiple talents, born on May 9, 1974 in Paris to a Martinican father and an Armenian mother.

From a young age he always had a penchant for creation, when he began his active life in the late 90s he expressed his creativity first with cocktails in bars for a few years then in the 2000s he decided to create his own brand of clothing and accessories in limited series with graphic prints. Subsequently he became a photographer and already created very colorful images and staging for many artists in the world of music.

It was at the beginning of the 2000s, marked by the release of the documentary "The Radiant Child" (Jean Michel Basquiat) that Lilian discovered an attraction to painting, but it was only years later in 2018 when he was in Germany that he finally dared to express himself with painting thanks to a painter who opened the doors of her studio to him.

From then on Liroy quickly found in painting an outlet and an alternative means of expression with which he flourished and revealed himself, a year after his debut he had his first exhibition in Stuttgart with a dozen paintings which had great success.

It was during his return to France in 2020 and particularly during the lockdown that he asserted his passion and creativity and invested himself fully in painting.

Liroy is a contemporary artist who expresses himself with his heart and his colors,
Much inspired by what surrounds him and what he sees, he loves above all to paint scenes of life which invoke the memories associated with it.
His highly recognizable and colorful characters with double faces, marked by the absence of distinctive features, invite us to share often cheerful and rhythmic moments and deliver a narration of which only the public has the freedom to be the author.
