Sylvaine Merlet

Born in 1977 and originally from Isère, I was passionate about color very early on. I took drawing lessons for 4 years, in order to master the basics and made my first oils on canvas at 12-13 years old. As a matter of course, I focused my studies on Applied Arts, then obtained a BTS Design and a Complementary Training in 3D Modeling.

Very interested in DTP, I completed a training course in Computer Graphics in Lyon.

I hold positions as Marketing Assistant, DTP Operator, Graphic Designer, Signage Designer, etc.

My passion for painting never left me, I finally picked up my brushes again in 2011 and developed my way of painting to find a VERY PERSONAL ARTISTIC APPROACH...

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Always passionate about figurative painting, over time I have developed a real fascination for Looks: "the eyes are the Mirror of the Soul", they communicate truths and do not cheat. This is why I wanted to MAKE MY PAINTINGS SPEAK by painting "paintings within the painting" and ensuring that these additions do not harm the view from afar, but on the contrary, they add a graphic effect.

Thus, each Painting tells a Story and can be “read" in several ways:

FROM A FAR: Main theme (often a portrait) and CLOSE UP: the details immerse us in multiple atmospheres related to this theme.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

At a time when we "scroll" without taking the time to look, I want to encourage people to realize that we live on a planet full of Wonders that we must respect and protect.

In an abundance of COLORS and CONTRASTS, my works, marked by finesse, grace, strength and sometimes revolt, are the reflection of my Soul and I use my brush like a weapon that shows, denounces and hides many messages in order to provoke reflection or escape into another dimension...
