Doug Argue (b. 1962, Minnesota) lives and works in NY. His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions. Most recently, three of his paintings were commissioned for the lobby of One World Trade Center in Manhattan. His work is held in the collections of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Walker Art Center, Weisman Art Museum, and numerous corporate and private collections. Argue has been the recipient of multiple awards including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in 1995 and the Rome Prize in 1997.
Spanning the past four decades, Argue's striking body of work ranges from expressionist figuration to cosmic abstractions, all while lyrically invoking a rich vocabulary of art historical, literary, and theoretical references.
