Prisca Lobjoy

Prisca Lobjoy, photographer and videographer, lives and works in Paris. Graduated from the Higher School of Applied Arts and Crafts.

His work, inspired by the plant world, explores the field of intimacy through metamorphosis.

Referred to, on a friendly basis, by the members of the group Gotan Project as the "fourth Gotan", she created and developed the group's visual environment for their three albums.

Already, his work as a videographer on the scenography of concerts reveals his sense of shift linked to that of correspondence: paradoxical, fluid and jerky, elegant and primitive, sensual, forming micro-sequenced moments imbued with raw stimuli, enriching the experience immersive offered by the group to its audience. After 18 years of creating at an intense pace, she feels the need to return to a more introspective practice which offers her total freedom and the possibility of exploring more personal subjects. She chose to turn to photography.

In her creative process, Prisca Lobjoy operates over a long time and often in several phases. Whatever the subject of her work, she positions herself as an attentive witness to the different elements of the moment. She uses existing light and leaves her subjects free to live and evolve in space. Taking a naive look at them, she creates the conditions for a simple encounter imbued with her sensory and emotional environment.

This moment of freedom follows a demanding and controlled search: an infinitely personal quest, that of emotion and sensation. Wishing to return to the moment experienced at the time of the shooting, Prisca begins a second phase of her experimental work.

Starting from her photographic shots, she enters into the intimacy of the image and searches for the most appropriate gesture to transcribe the traces of the emotions that passed through her; it operates through manual or digital interventions until the satisfactory form is found. These metamorphoses permeate the final image and impact us with their evocative power, directly engaging with our innermost being.
