Biography
DLGR, or Armand Dupuy De La Grand'Rive, is a young artist from Montpellier already known to the general public thanks to his participation in several group exhibitions (at the Fabre Museum in 2014 or at the Château de Castries in 2015) but also an individual exhibition in 2017 in Sète “My muse is Rihanna”.
First turned to Impressionism, DLGR began his artistic practice by painting landscapes (often at night in order to capture the nuances of colors). His art then gradually evolves to give a clever mix of styles. During his years of training at the Beaux-Arts in Montpellier, he turned to new practices: Photoshop, Illustrator, screen printing. The latter marked a shift in his artistic creation to focus solely on the production of pop icons in order to reach as many people as possible.
Through the exploitation of characters known to all, DLGR questions the world around it but especially Western culture. By making characters from contemporary collective education coexist, this young artist modifies their characteristic traits in order to question the habits of representation.
A cohabitation which gives a new reading of these heroes known to all.
