

Biography
Victor Henry Motlop is a painter, printmaker, sculptor. Torres Strait Islander, he was born in 1961 in Moa Island. He belongs to the Wagadagam tribe of Bamaga, Saibai Island, in Queensland, Australia. He works in a variety of media including woodcarving, weaving and linocut prints, prints. The British Museum names him "Indigenous Australian".
He was selected in 2006 to represent Australia for the 2006 Symposium World Triennale of Engraving in Chamalières, France, with his linocut print "kuwai", an aquatic vegetable grown in paddy culture similar to that of rice.
