Bernard Louédin

Bernard Louedin was born in Rennes in 1938. This child of the marshes of Dol, Breton by stock and heart, is however more turned towards the land than towards the sea, even if water is often present in his compositions. He attended the workshops of Rennes painters Pierre Gilles and Xavier de Langlais and then those of Chapelain-Midy and Michel Ciry. If he admires Zoran Music, Zao Wou Ki and Max Ernst, he gets rid of these influences very early on to explore his own path. He works in oil painting, sculpture, tapestries, engraving and illustration. He transfigures objects, animals or plants, adapts them to each other, forming an incoherent harmony. Louedin's canvases are still charged with the wetlands of the moors and the Celtic legends they convey. The breeze that animates them gives them great lightness and tempers their dark character.
