Colors of Abstraction
From January 16, 2021 to March 31, 2021
Swedish-Chilean artist Anton Alvarez (1980) graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 2012. His work focuses on the design of systems and the creation of tools and processes for producing objects.
Anton Alvarez invented his own machine, an extruder that emits an entire clay sculpture in one go. However, the process is not fully automated and requires the intervention of an operator responsible for regulating pressure, speed, size, impact, intention and judging the aesthetics. The titles of his artworks correspond to the date and time when they were made.
Similar to André Breton, through this project, Anton Alvarez tries to produce art automatically and without preconception, to create what he calls "unformulated objects".
His work has been exhibited internationally: Switzerland, Spain, Taiwan, Sweden, France, England, the United States, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, Chile, Korea, Greece and Japan.
