Presentation
Born in Colombia in 1976, John Mejia arrived in France during the 1998 World Cup in the wake of the Colombia team and remained in France.
He has been drawing since he was little, he started to take painting lessons and to define his style.
He admits having had the desire to paint after discovering the works of his compatriot Fernando Botero, and he is inspired by Gustav Klimt and Lucian Freud.
Living on the Côte d'Azur, John Mejia had hesitated, on this evening of July 14, 2016, to go see the fireworks in Nice, so that his visiting Colombian family could enjoy the show.
Then the unthinkable happens ... On hearing the news in the night, John paints a watercolor, which without knowing it, would go around the world: Pray for Nice.
