Biographie
Laurent Chabot est un peintre français autodidacte né en 1951. Il adopte très tôt, et de manière systématique, la couleur jaune dans son travail de peinture et de photographie.
"Cette couleur persiste et m'accompagne le jour et la nuit" dit-il. Le parcours de Laurent Chabot est atypique. Issu de la campagne, il passe son enfance à la ferme, travaille et joue dans les champs, de blé bien sûr, mais aussi le champ des possibles.
Plus tard, c'est l'exode vers la ville, où il va petit à petit cultiver et exprimer une remontée vers cette lumière déjà passée. Laurent Chabot nous plonge dans la couleur, éliminant tout repère spatial et toute limite visuelle, pour nous attirer vers des horizons inataignables.
