"Michaelis series of paintings are like a mosaic one has to admire with a global view, each painting being part of it, the artist, with a myriad of tesserae, observer and actor of this happy world, is painting for us many portraits of Parisians within a crowd addicted to Paris Post-War joyous pleasures, full of hope.
With this exhibition of 45 paintings, we discover theaters, night-clubs, “Maître d’hôtel” «Buffet Waitress» and « Champagne Drinking ». in clandestine casinos, with happy dancers of Bebops, Slow, « Orange Dancer », « Dancer in yellow », « Casino Dancers » and the forgotten “Kazatchok dancers» then so fashionable, and outside, in the freezing cold, pancake sellers, lovers kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower. « Paris Fiesta » is also an elegant «Lady with black mink » or “The blonde bomb », « Lady with red cape » « Lady wearing an orange dress».
In his series of paintings on the theater buzzy world, “Theater file » «Theater Intermission », another atmosphere is prevailing, with velvety reds or joyous oranges, like the red curtain of the stage, new Demiurge between the real and the dream world. Outside in the cold, «Pancakes seller » are expecting customers just out from night-clubs and theaters, while and « On Seine banks. » the «Tour Eiffel Tower Lovers » share a kiss forever. When regretfully it is time for «Night-Club Exit » one takes a ride with « The drunkenness old cart La charrette ancienne de l'ivresse » or the « Minibus » to return home, still dizzy and dreamy."
