Arthur Djoroukhian has created his own reputation by proclaiming himself the artist of the barrel.
Djoroukhian Arthur was born in 1972 in Georgia to an Armenian family. He studied in Russia at the School of Fine Arts of Dzerzhinsk. He settled permanently in France in the 90s.
His work with the barrel is an excuse to explore visions, obsessions and contemporary splendeur. It is not simply represeting the object, or staging it, it's more like an assertion of New Realists methods: the real object asserts itself with its evocative and controversial power.
