Kurhajec is a wild and generous sculptor.
Biography
Joseph Kurhajec was born in 1938 on the Canadian border in Wisconsin to parents from Czechoslovakia.
He spent his youth on the family ranch where mink were raised. He quickly enjoyed assembling all types of materials. At university, he studied art, initially metal sculpture. During his training, he was deeply impressed by fetishes from the Congo, exhibited in Chicago in 1961. These objects would decide his artistic direction. He would always keep, almost instinctively, and as if engraved in his DNA, the desire to create strong and "charged" works.
