Elvire Menetrier is a visual artist born in 1994. A graduate of Villa Arson (Nice) and the Paris Music Conservatory, her multidisciplinary practice includes painting, drawing, sculpture, video and sound. She is part of the Atelier Panthera in Marseille.
The work of Elvire Menetrier develops a dialogue between gory and sacred imaginaries, iconographic references from the Middle Ages, the Baroque, pop-up advertising or pornographic images. By manipulating traditional forms of representation she seeks to divert genres and canons, operating a tension between what is shown and what is concealed through a deliberately frontal and raw style.
Her work is part of the Lapin Canard collection and has been exhibited at 109, at the OVNI festival in Nice, at the La Nave Va galleries, Agent Troublant, at the PAC off in Marseille, at the Documenta off in Kassel and in Parisian artist run spaces.
