Presentation

Since the early 90s, Klaus Dietrich, born in Mannheim in 1939, has been concerned with the relationship between pictorial reality and reality, art and everyday life. He often adopts a distanced, ironic point of view, which enables him to pay attention to the form and material composition of photography and graphics beyond the question of content.

In his photographs, Klaus Dietrich combines the technique of analog and digital collage to create his works. The experimental handling of the medium - its chemical and photograms, Polaroid transfers or overpaintings - always plays an important role in the controlled and uncontrollable occurrence of physical phenomena. Over the unpredictable of the flowing traces of color and chemistry, the artist lays - and this is also characteristic - a regular, predictable grid or line system as a counterpole.
