Greet Weitenberg is a visual artist and was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. from Friesland, the United States and the Bijlmer she settled down in the Jordaan in Amsterdam where she lives and has her studio.
Greet is fascinated by lines, light, shadow, tranquility and alienation. She uses a wide variety of techniques to examine her concepts such as collages, wall reliefs, embroidery, drawings and photographs and video.
In the works that are on view in Maastricht we see landscapes that are familiar to us. Have we been here? Was not in..? Viewing it for a while you see more patterns and you get memories or desires for a landscape that is somewhere in the subconscious.
She exhibits both in the Netherlands and abroad and has won international awards. Her work is in private and public collections and since 2017 she is one of the permanent artists of PontArte gallery in Maastricht.
Greet Weitenberg plays with elements of human existence. Her work includes multiple layers in which silence and estrangement are recurring themes. Weitenberg uses various techniques such as collage, photography, embroidery, reliefs, drawing, etc. Weitenberg exhibits in the Netherlands and abroad. Her work has won international awards and can be found in both private and public collections From 2017 her work is available at PontArte in Maastricht.
