Presentation

Jung-Yeon Min’s abstract and surrealistic paintings of landscapes and floating forms collapse space and time. Charged with biomorphic imagery and graphic patterns, her canvases present layered perspectives that appear to defy laws of geometry. An early milestone in Min’s career was her inclusion in the third Asian Art Biennial organized by the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in 2011. That year, Min also won the annual Prix des Partenaires for emerging artists, given by the Saint-Étienne Métropole Museum of Modern Art. This led to her first solo museum exhibition at the French institution in 2012. Min uses acrylic and pencil on paper to create her visual illusions, exploring liminal spaces between micro- and macro-worlds, the virtual and the real.
