Composiciones fotográficas oscuras
Ilumina la oscuridad. Esto parece casi una contradicción, pero en fotografía, ciertas técnicas pueden hacer precisamente eso. Al igual que los tonos oscuros en la pintura, las composiciones fotográficas oscuras pueden representar la melancolía, la oscuridad o la soledad, ya sea en un paisaje nocturno poco iluminado o en una multitud densamente poblada y sin luz en un paisaje urbano. Tanto la fotografía en blanco y negro como la de color pueden crear composiciones oscuras jugando con los marrones, los negros y los grises creados en el proceso fotográfico. Utilizando los contrastes para resaltar un objeto, una mirada o un contorno, se pueden sugerir emociones o sentimientos oscuros como la soledad, el peligro o incluso la intimidad y la aventura. Christophe Dabreau afirma en su propia selección de obras que observa a sus sujetos e intenta "sacar a la luz" una mirada oculta en las sombras. Las obras de Cécile Baldewyns, en cambio, pretenden contar historias y revelar los secretos de su anhelo y su dolor a través de composiciones oscuras. Aunque su obra se considera tanto sensual como perturbadora, ¿no es el presentimiento y el dramatismo de los tonos oscuros el escenario perfecto?
