Mar
El mar, majestuoso y tiránico, nunca ha dejado de fascinar a los artistas. Indomable, esta fuerza de la naturaleza parece tener un carácter propio. Los paisajes marinos han inspirado a muchos artistas. Desde la antigüedad el mar ha sido representado en todas sus formas, se le ha rendido homenaje siglo tras siglo a través de varios estilos y colores. Este deseo de evasión y de vida al aire libre no es una excepción entre los pintores de nuestro siglo... La pintura marina nació en el siglo XV al mismo tiempo que la pintura de historia, con la que comparte muchos puntos en común. La mayoría de las veces, las pinturas marinas narran batallas, episodios históricos o mitológicos. Los personajes desempeñan un papel importante. No fue hasta el siglo XVII que las pinturas marinas se eximieron de sus protagonistas y sólo dejaron espacio para la representación del Naturaleza y paisajes. En la Edad Media, las tormentas y los naufragios aterrorizaban a las poblaciones que los interpretaban como signos de la ira de Dios. Por ello, la iglesia utiliza la representación del mar tempestuoso para mantener su poder sobre los creyentes. En la época de la pintura clásica, las representaciones se regían por reglas muy académicas y a menudo no lograban despertar emociones reales. Fue en el siglo XIX cuando las escenas marinas se incorporaron a la corriente principal del arte. Con el nacimiento del periodo romántico, las emociones juegan un papel más importante en el arte y esto se puede sentir en los paisajes marinos. Dos grandes maestros de la época, el inglés J.M.W. Turner y el alemán Caspar David Friedrich, impactaron en las mentes de sus contemporáneos y sus obras siguen hipnotizándonos hoy en día. Para los impresionistas, el paisaje marino es una sublimación de la naturaleza. Durante el siglo XIX, los pintores salieron de sus estudios para pintar y describir a través de la pintura, la naturaleza tal y como la ven y la sienten. A finales del siglo XIX, el mar ya no es esa simple extensión azul sino que se convierte en el teatro de los sentimientos puestos en color y luz a través del pintura. El arte contemporáneo ofrece una nueva visión de la creación. Hoy en día la técnica se ve superada por el mensaje y la intención de la obra. Así que hoy encontramos ilustraciones del mar de todo tipo, el mar se convierte en la imagen de la creación contemporánea. El mar, a veces reinventado, puede seguir representándose fiel a una realidad. Sinónimo de frescura y evasión, las calas perdidas, las olas y las orillas del mar animan muchas obras de la nueva generación de artistas contemporáneos.
