Retratistas clásicos
Pintar a las personas de tu vida es inmortalizarlas. Se puede argumentar que, al crear una representación tan tangible de los que más quieres, se convierten en intangibles, pasando por generaciones como un guiño al pasado, pero celebrados y conservados por los del presente. En este sentido, el retrato clásico existirá mientras exista la necesidad de documentar y recordar a quienes nos rodean. Desde la mirada intemporal de la Gioconda de Leonardo da Vinci (1503) hasta el Retrato de un noble oriental de Rembrandt van Rijn (1632), la conservación del sujeto a través del retrato seguirá representándose. En las colecciones de Artsper se encuentran obras de la talla de Blanche Pierron y Edouard Morerod, que muestran cómo el retrato clásico siguió siendo un tema popular durante el nacimiento del modernismo. La pregunta que surge es: ¿a quién se retrata? Históricamente, a los que pueden permitírselo, pero a partir del siglo XIX y hasta Albert Chavaz, a los que se encuentran con el artista en la vida cotidiana. Con un abanico tan amplio y no tan exhaustivo para elegir, los que a menudo son representados en el estilo del retrato clásico son también sujetos de la cultura popular. Al recorrer un mar de figuras, todas ellas igualmente merecedoras de ser inmortalizadas, hoy también se encontrará con Sylvie Vanlerberghe y su representación de personajes conocidos.
