Présentation

Carlos Delgado is a Colombian artist currently living in Toronto, Canada. Carlos has been recognized for his series "Being Human in the System" through various exhibitions in Colombia (2016) and Canada (2016) and his series "Faces of the System" in Canada (2016), Colombia (2017) and Sweden (2017).

For his work "Travellers Under the Moon" he received the Art Access Award from the Toronto Arts Foundation (2015). Carlos has also been a two-time finalist for the Toronto Arts Foundation Newcomer Artist Award (2014 and 2015) and recipient of the RBC and Toronto Arts Foundation Mentoring Award (2017).

A self-taught artist, Carlos' work has been appreciated by collectors worldwide with pieces held in private collections in the UK, Portugal, France, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Iceland, Singapore, China, Australia, Colombia, Canada and the United States.

His paintings are also represented by Gallery 133 in Toronto and Galleri Lohme in Malmö, and his drawings by Gallery Chaos in Belgrade. Carlos received the Arts Abroad grant from the Canada Council for the Arts for his solo exhibition in Sweden (2017). Carlos believes that art should also be in the public realm and as such brings the activation of art through live art and large scale murals into the public space.

He has been widely sought after for his live paintings and has brought art to spaces such as the Toronto Pan American Games, Ontario Cultural Days, Gallerinite in Malmö, Sweden, the Toronto Mayor's Annual Art Night, FIFA and many others.

His murals have been part of inventive street art projects such as Toronto's Underpass Park and have been incorporated into iconic neighbourhoods such as Toronto's Kensington Market. As an artist, Carlos feels he has a social responsibility to use art as a way to give back.

As a result, he developed a community art program called "In Our Shoes", which reached out to over 200 youth in marginalized communities in Toronto, using sneakers and art to create access to art and community development. Through this program, Carlos won the prestigious Artist in Residency (2016) at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and received the Toronto Arts Council, Community Arts Grant (2017).
