Throughout our history, steeped in religious precepts, envy has always been associated with sins, jealousy, and lust. Associated with the impulses of the body, with organic needs: "urge to piss", "urge to shit", "want to kiss", "urge to vomit" ... so many needs that man strives to silence, to hide, on pain of being taken straight to Hell! The man of good morals will tend to qualify his desires as desires, associating them with something noble, with things of the mind, with transcendence ... My characters, them, seem far removed from all these precepts. They are content to be alive; beyond good and evil; and well beyond any considerations given by external contingencies. Their desires, their desires, they do not name them, they live them! They live them for themselves and share them without concession. They don't suppress any of their impulses, don't judge themselves or others. None of them restrains on his instinctual impulses, this vital impulse, and all come together on this level, without shame and without guilt. They simply made a choice, that of living! And not that of dying slowly, suffocated by unfulfilled impulses. Because these impulses that we repress under the pretext of morality, decorum, religion… inevitably end up killing us psychically; by making of us tired beings in whom the desires disappear, one after the other, bringing with them our simple desire to live.
