Biography
Peter Chinovsky is a visual artist based in Varna, Bulgaria. He studied visual communication and animation in Art College, Sofia, and later graduated from the printmaking department of Veliko Tarnovo University.
Peter has participated in multiple national and international group exhibitions. His works are part of private collections in Europe, USA, China and Japan.
Peter's experience in learning and teaching languages further intensified his natural fascination by the examination of the process of translating raw experience into symbolic languages and the breaking down of human communication.
"I see this as reflecting the incompleteness of the translation of raw experience into symbolic language statements that we can share with each other. The fact that we can navigate the structure of languages creates the feeling of "making-sense", which obscures the large amount of non-conceptual information in experience that can never be shared. I like disturbing this making-sense machinery to draw attention to what might otherwise be missed."
Peter often stumbles upon visuals in the non-obvious visual content of everyday objects without inherent artistic value. In terms of medium he looks for diverse solutions in computers, collage, printmaking and drawing.
