A Greek name for a life in France, with Catalan, Spanish and Italian moods in the genealogical tree.
An encounter in adolescence with abstract painting which shows a beautiful arrogance in the galleries visited haphazardly, the reading of Gérard de Nerval, the feverish listening of Pascal Comelade, the dazzled vision of "Barry Lyndon" " by Stanley Kubrick.
Finally, an almost unreasonable love for the monumental provocations of Dubuffet.
Influenced by both the latter and Chaissac, Haring, Basquiat and Street Art, he decided to identify his work as "Street Art Brut".
These small encounters which could only be small cultural pleasures, of those which are rewards in an after all ordinary life.
But which make him click. Guillaume Nicolaou, despite the handicap of a happy childhood, will therefore be an artist.
Like the others, that is to say different. Self-taught, he flees the straitjacket of drawing, with a naive stubbornness, to give free rein to a recreation of the world in black and white where adulthood has trouble finding its place.
As if black and white, in contradiction even with its symbolism, refused to mourn childhood. Acrylic on canvas, thrown like a last burst of laughter from this childhood that he knows, despite everything, is forever lost.
