The Franco-German painter Dorothée Louise Recker was born in 1984 in Norway and grew up in the south of France. A graduate of Beaux-Arts in Paris, she has spent the last ten years successively in Berlin, Paris and Marseille. She was a resident of ChezKit, an artist space offering programming focused on the young Parisian scene, where she participated in various exhibitions. Her work has been exhibited in several venues in France, Germany and abroad – including Kraftwerk and Wilhelmhallen in Berlin, She BAM! at the Spinnerei Leipzig, at the Villa Belleville in Paris, at La Peau de l'Ours in Brussels and at Art au Center in Liège, at the Tanja Grunert gallery in New York. In 2018, she presented her first solo gallery exhibition with She BAM!. She returned to the Spinnerei the following year for a four-month residency, still maintaining strong ties between her two countries of origin. She now lives and works between Berlin and the south of France.

Coming from a family of horticulturists, she spent her childhood in the heart of mimosa plantations. His Mediterranean origins deeply mark his identity and his artistic expression as well as his dual culture and his imagination around his childhood marked by the Northern Lights and Scandinavian winters. His pictorial language combines these influences with research centered around the notions of color and gesture: materiality or evanescence of the first, erasing or highlighting the second.
