Biography
“Self-taught, aged 57, I have been exploring a personal graphic technique for almost 20 years.
From black and white abstraction, I moved on to organic forms then to a figuration transmuted into a fantastic world by the geometric application of black or white lines, voids, dashes, colors... - a technique resulting from my imaginary experiences -
My work is above all the gesture continued by the mind.
The gesture is lines, more or less thick, placed directly in ink or acrylic on paper, cardboard or canvas, without conscious intention, without plan; the mind is the organization of colors and patterns between these features until the result, abstract or figurative, imaginary, unexpected.
Under no circumstances can the usual visual effects of painting be used: I simply want to bear witness to a pure creative experience of a being of flesh and soul in the age of intelligent machines.
Thus, in the manner of concrete art, my technique is made of geometric shapes and flat areas of color and, in the manner of abstract expressionism, these forms are free, almost exclusively traced freehand for a search for the unexpected, the surprise that what I call “the magic of gesture" can produce."
