Biography

A resolutely modern artist, Marie Agnès Persyn presents mainly acrylics on canvas, slates and paper, works with a strong character from which emanates a strange, almost palpable power. Laid on the canvas with a knife, a brush, these impressions of life, the sensuality and wanderings of the soul burst forth as much by the play of colors, dark or luminous as by the power of the guiding forms, often energetic, always free. Each of her paintings goes well beyond a simple reproduction of the image, a personal vision moving away from reality.

Abstraction or figuration, each canvas is the result of reflection, a play of materials, an in-depth work; her painting is the means to throw her emotions onto the canvas or paper. She mainly uses acrylics, pigments that dry quickly and allow her to work "in a hurry" in successive layers in order to create materials that catch the light, the shadows... and the ideas.
