Biography
Martine Bligny is a figurative painter born in Paris, France where she lives and works. Since 1982, Bligny has exhibited her work in salons, galleries, private collections and workshops, throughout France and further abroad.
"I chose to paint the human figure, mirror of oneself, starting from its various representations (history of painting and photographs), as a formal support for pictorial work. The bodies, the clothes, the adornments, are like the fragile and temporary envelopes of the soul that incarnates and travels through the multiple worlds of space and time. Characters sometimes replay the myths of Narcissus, or Bacchus, Noah... etc, on boats, crossing...
Through painting, I try to express the forces and the energies which underlie the shapes of the figure within the space of a painting. Vibration of the flesh alone, brings us back to the here and now, in the pure presence of the human figure... the living picture resonates in us, and is in tune with our soul."
