Biography

Jean Dufy (1888–1964) was a French painter known for his vibrant and colorful works, often inspired by urban life, music, and Parisian landscapes. Born in Le Havre, he was the younger brother of the renowned artist Raoul Dufy. Jean initially entered the art world through design and illustration, working for companies such as the Haviland porcelain factory.

Influenced by Fauvism and Cubism, he developed a distinctive style characterized by dynamic brushstrokes and a bright palette. His works often celebrated scenes of concerts, circuses, and romantic visions of Paris, with a particular focus on light and movement. Jean Dufy exhibited his art in several prestigious shows, contributing to the spread of modern French art.
