Biography
Samuel Almansa, is an artist based in Mallorca. Trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cuenca, he has been able to explore multiple modes of artistic projection such as video, installation, painting or muralism.
The artist starts from figuration to represent themes that are part of our most contemporary collective imagination. Through installation and the use of airbrushing, Samuel Almansa reviews the limits of kitsch aesthetics by representing everyday objects or traditionally non-"noble" subjects (tuned cars, trivial scenes of life, techno parties, etc.).
Each of his subjects allows him to claim the role of the cultures born in the suburban neighborhoods where he grew up and developed his own visual interests.
Samuel Almansa's work is a perfect reflection of contemporary popular culture, of neo-folklore that extends to networks, digital culture and media. On these platforms, these new cultures take on new aspects, are reinterpreted and merge. The artist is interested in the process of constructing a reality through information and the opinion that results from it, which often has nothing to do with the truth or our own thoughts.
