Born in 1970 in Yambol, Rumen Malchev is a Bulgarian painter. He lives and works in Yambol.
Through his attraction for art at an early age, he joined a specialized high school in visual arts in Sofia, then he settled down and embarked on a creation period. From 1995-2008, he settled down in a village in the Yambol region and became a member of the artist's union of this same region. Therefore, he participated in several exhibitions in Yambol, Sofia and Burgas. He is also a member of the Bulgarian artist's union. He received the Young Artist prize.
Rumen Malchev creates a familiar fantasy-like universe, which makes the spectator think about his childhood years, far from the complex and dejected adult world. The artist's work is colorful with structured compositions due to their strong horizontal lines, representing the horizon or dividing the image. He also uses vertical lines to create a narration, which leads the spectator right to the sky.
