Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts (IBA) at Douala University in Nkongsamba, Marc Padeu lives and works between Douala and Nkongsamba in Cameroon.
His work is a clever blend of the conceptual On kawara (Japan) and the realistic and post-modern portraitist Barkley L. Hendricks (USA), two great figures of contemporary painting.
Marc Padeu is a committed artist. He admits to being challenged by the impact of the violence of terrorism on the current society as well as by the contemporary representation of the legacy of the triangular trade. The key subjects through which he structures his plastic approach. He particularly likes the practice of diversion or wink. Through his latest works, he magnifies the "black pride" in the image of his elder, the African-American Kehinde Wiley whose work he admires.
